EXPLORE THE EPIC FANTASY ADVENTURE TRILOGY

Beyond The Hago Gate

Beyond the Hago Gate is a tantalising, historical fantasy story which will keep you gripped from the outset. The Kingdom of Harlem is ruled by the feckless King Bantu; a young bitter man who is blighted by dark secrets and terrible nightmares. Riddled with guilt and fear, he is plagued by an event which took place when he was just 16 years old and which still casts a murky shadow over the entire Kingdom.

The Harlem Beast

Zogi defied King Bantu Banujala by going behind the Hago Gate, resulting in two outcomes: The appearance of the Harlem Magical Playground, which usually brought excitement to Harlem’s citizens and its neighbouring kingdoms. The appearance of the Harlem Beast, bent on disrupting the lives of everyone, both near and far. The citizens of Harlem cannot stop asking: Who is to blame for the Harlem Beast?

The Harlem Gate Keeper

Zogi’s identify has been revealed and the shocking discovery about Harsha’s identity changes Zogi’s life’s trajectory. There is urgency to find Tiera to confirm Harsha’s shocking revelation and to set the record straight. Amid the confusion, the Kingdom of Ekity elects a new leader and to everyone’s dismay, he challenges the sovereignty of Harlem, involving the regions of Ballepo, and Ekity.

My Tips on Self-Publishing

Finish your manuscript

Complete your draft and ensure it is fully ready for publication.

Proofreading

It is advisable to hire a professional proofreading service to review your manuscript and correct errors.

Choose a self-publishing route

Search online for self-publishing companies or agents offering different publishing packages. You may not need an agent if you have the technical skills, time, and patience to manage the process yourself. Platforms such as CreateSpace (now part of Amazon KDP) can be a useful starting point.

Working with a self-publishing agent

Once you agree a package with an agent, they will guide you through the remaining process. This may include selecting or designing your book cover, approving layout and formatting, and preparing the final files for publication.

They will also assign an ISBN to your book and typically provide at least one printed copy once it is published. Additional copies can usually be purchased at a discounted rate. Your book may be distributed through Amazon and other platforms. You will receive royalties from sales, while you are responsible for marketing (or can pay for marketing support).

Obtaining your own ISBN (optional route)

If you prefer not to use an agent, you can purchase ISBNs directly from the Nielsen UK ISBN Agency. Information is available on their official website: http://www.isbn.nielsenbook.co.uk/controller.php?page=121

Illustrations (if needed)

If your book requires illustrations, hire an illustrator online or through recommendations. Always review their portfolio and, where possible, request a sample based on your specific project before committing.

Assign your ISBN

Once obtained, assign your ISBN to your book in preparation for publication.

Formatting and production

Work with a media or publishing service to typeset, format, and design your book. This includes layout, cover design, and integrating text and illustrations. They will prepare a print-ready file and may also handle printing. If you use your own printer, they can supply a print-ready version of the file.

Legal deposit copies (UK requirement)

After publication, you are required to send copies of your book to designated legal deposit libraries in the UK, such as the British Library. For more information on this, visit: http://www.isbn.nielsenbook.co.uk/controller.php?page=121

Distribution and sales

Register as a seller on Amazon and other relevant platforms. You can also approach bookshops directly to explore stocking your book and agree on terms of sale.
